A Designer’s Brain in a Comedian’s Body: The DNA Behind P’Jimmies
The initial P’Jimmies collaboration with Alex Mill dropped in November 2020. It all started with a lunch meeting between Jimmy Fallon and longtime friend — and fashion industry icon — Mickey Drexler, Chairman of Alex Mill and head of Drexler Ventures. Fallon had come prepared with a few “crazy” ideas for a collab. But before he could even finish, Drexler cut in with a single, pitch-perfect suggestion: “What about pajamas?”
From concept to execution, Fallon played a real role in bringing P’Jimmies to life. According to Drexler, Jimmy brought a clear creative vision to the table — one rooted in simplicity, utility, and ease. In a rare Tonight Show interview in November 2024, Drexler recalled, “We couldn’t have done this without Jimmy’s designer DNA.”
Fallon worked closely with Alex Mill’s Creative Director Somsack Sikhounmuong throughout the entire creative process, from developing the name and logo concepts to adding playful “easter eggs” such as phrases like “Nighty night” and “ready for bed” printed inside the waistbands.
